Chicago evens up series Vs Canucks Saturday night at GM Place.

It was a pretty entertaining game Saturday night at the Garage, even though the Vancouver Canucks found themselves on the wrong end of a 6-3 score against the Chicago Blackhawks.

The Hawks left Vancouver on a charter flight immediately after their Game 2 victory. They were rewarded with an off day Sunday. The series will resume Tuesday at the United center in Chicago.

Vancouver jumped out to a 2-0 lead early in the first, on the strength of 2 power play goals. Chicago started out the game well, just like they had in game 1, and again, just like in game 1, got into penalty trouble and found themselves in a deep hole early on.

The young Hawks have proven to be a resilient bunch: they have come back from falling into a hole early 4 times in these playoffs, including twice already in the series.

The Canucks are saying all of the right things, and seem composed. It’s a good thing because they will have to enter a pretty hostile environment for game 3.

Captain Roberto Luongo is going to have to tighten up: after shutting down the St. Louis Blues in round 1, he has given up 8 goals in the first 2 games of this series. If Vancouver is going to survive this round, their captain is going to have to be better than that.

Sami Salo did not make the trip to Chicago with his mates, and his status is doubtful for game 2. Ryan Johnson is also listed as questionable after blocking a shot with his hand. As well, Alex Burrows and Pavol Demitra were shaken up in the game, but they should be good to go.

The stage has been set for a real battle. I don’t know who is going to come out on top, but I do know that it will be entertaining!
