One Day Guide to Vancouver

Dec 14, 2009

To assist you in maximizing your stay in our beautiful city, Vancouver.com has compiled this one day trip guide outlining some of the top Vancouver attractions that you won’t want to miss.

Canada Place: Vancouver’s Gateway

Spend your morning visiting Canada Place and the newly built convention center located next door. Just as Vancouver is recognized as North America’s gateway to the Asia Pacific, Canada Place is recognized as the world’s gateway to Vancouver.

The Canada Place pier is undoubtedly the best place to enjoy spectacular views of the ocean and the magnificent North Shore mountains.  You can also watch the majestic cruise ships as they head out to sea.  If your curious to learn a bit about Canadian history, then keep your eyes out for The Canadian Trail.  Located on the Canada Place Pier, the Canadian Trail is a unique walk across Canada that uses surface tiles and covered glass to depict our vast and diverse country.

Stanley Park: Vancouver’s Green Treasure

After browsing Robson Street, consider heading toward Stanley Park for an afternoon stroll.  The park is easily accessible by public transit

Opened in 1888, Stanley Park is a favourite destination for both tourists and local residents.  The 1,000 acres park is an evergreen oasis just minutes from downtown.  Some areas are forested with giant trees and lush plants that are hundreds of years old. The park is also full of gorgeous gardens that make for great photography.

The 9 km Stanley Park seawall is very popular for biking, rollerblading and walking.  Affordable rentals are available at a variety of stores on nearby Denman Street.  Stanley Park also has access to several beaches that are great for picnics and sunbathing.  In the summer time, you can easily travel around the park by taking a shuttle bus, which hits 15 of the park’s most popular attractions and natural highlights ($2 for adults and $1 for kids age 2 to 11).

Stanley Park is a great place for families to enjoy the afternoon.  Highlights include the Children's Farmyard, the Miniature Train and the Vancouver Aquarium.
