Last summer, Coast Restaurant, the Glowball Collection's popular Yaletown seafood restaurant, announced a newly designed, soaring 7,000 square-foot space in downtown Vancouver, as well as the debut of O Lounge in an adjacent 1,200 square-foot space.
“With a back-to-basics seafood menu, Coast showcases the best quality seafood served with classic style,” says proprietor, Emad Yacoub. “This is a place where diners can slurp icy oysters, crack into a crab claw and savour a rich chowder, along with a crisp glass of wine or a nice, chilled beer.”

At the 24-seat ‘Oyster & Chowder Bar’, Atlantic and Pacific Coast oysters are shucked along with signature dishes like Dungeness crab cakes, seafood platters, lobsters, chowders and sushi. Landlubbers may select juicy cuts of Triple A Canadian Prime beef. A well balanced wine list features 100 wines under $100, stocked full of Pacific Northwest gems.
The Glowball Collection attracts an energetic and uniquely Vancouver crowd. Known for its playful buzz, Coast continues its legacy as a place to remember and return to often.
The expansive space features a clean, contemporary design by Vancouver’s BOX Interior Design. Deep turquoise tones, mosaic-tile floors and lush leather banquettes define a breathtaking, new Vancouver aesthetic and extends a respectful nod to historic San Francisco, home to the world’s most iconic seafood eateries. The Coast entry welcomes guests through a street-side lounge bordered by fire pits. Doubling the former restaurant’s capacity, the top level seats 120 and the main level seats 125, including a dramatic 20-foot circular ‘Oyster & Chowder Bar’. Beyond, guests will be drawn to a warm and intimate mezzanine featuring a signature ‘Boardroom Table’ and a private dining space.
Next door, O Lounge bustles. Here, guests can sip house cocktails, survey the crowd and enjoy the full menu from Coast until midnight. O features an intimate split-level room seating 70, with plush, tangerine mid-rise sofas and sultry back-lit columns.
THE TEAM
Jan Erik Wichmann, General Manager
Jan Erik has taken the helm as General Manager at Coast Restaurant. Throughout his career, Jan Erik has gained extensive knowledge in food and beverage operations, travelling the globe with the luxury InterContinental Hotel Group; London, Rome, New Orleans and Toronto. His roles of throughout his tenure with InterContinental have given him a gainful appreciative experience in all realms of food and beverage and front and back-of-house management operations. Most recently, Jan Erik held the position of General Manager at glowbal grill – the flagship of the Glowball Collection of Restaurants.
Josh Wolfe, Executive Chef
Coast Restaurant welcomed Josh Wolfe, a Toronto native, to its well established culinary team as Executive Chef in October 2007. Wolfe began his cooking career at Centro Grill and Wine Bar in Toronto. While completing his apprenticeship at Centro, Wolfe learned the speed and precision necessary to cater fine dining to upwards of 300 guests. Promoted to Sous Chef at Toronto’s The Fifth, Wolfe refined his cooking and honed his management skills. During his stay, The Fifth was honoured with the city’s most coveted award, Number One Restaurant by Toronto Life Magazine in April 2003. While Wolfe’s training is classical, his inspiration is contemporary and his style is fuelled by both products and seasons.
