Spring Break is here! Wondering what to do with the kids? Vancouver.com has compiled a list of great family-friendly activities that are all happening during spring break.

SpongeBob at the Aquarium
The Aquarium is always a family favourite. During spring break the Aquarium is featuring SpongeBob SquarePants (movie) in 4D – free with admission. Not only that, Sponge Bob will be making in-person appearances daily from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. until March 14th. Everyone can also meet SpongeBob’s underwater friends at the Touch Pool Stations that feature multicoloured marine life including sea stars and sea anemones. Plus, don’t miss regular Aquarium favourites like the Dolphin Show.

Paralympic Torch Relay Celebrations
The 10-day Paralympic Torch Relay began March 3rd in Ottawa and will feature about 600 torchbearers and stops at several Canadian Celebration Sites. Celebrations will highlight the stories, achievements and courage of inspirational Paralympic athletes.
Celebrations will take place in and around Vancouver on the following dates:
March 10- Riley Park Community Centre (Vancouver) and Maple Ridge
March 11- University of BC
March 11-12- 24-hour Torch Relay- beginning at 2 p.m at Robson Square

Spring Break at the Police Museum
The police museum is offering forensic-themed workshops (March 7-12) for kids 7-14 on a variety of topics including fingerprints, impression evidence (footprints and tire treads) and even blood splatter (for older kids). There’s also a drop-in program (noon to 4 p.m.) during which children and adults can learn how police investigate crimes and try their luck and solving their own investigation.

Swashbucklin’ Spring Break at Science World
Science World will host a number of pirate-themed activities during spring break (March 11-15)
. The Omnimax Theatre and interactive galleries will also be open starting March 8th. See the Science World website for more details
Paralympic Activities
During the Paralympics (March 12-21) many of the free pavilions and activities that were popular during the Olympics will re-open. Some venues will also be open before the games actually start. Check out the Zipline, ice skating and entertainment at Robson Square, the Canada Pavilion and more. Vancouver.com has a complete list of activities here.
Kids Market at Granville Island
Spring break events include recycled craft workshops (March 5 -14), Child Find Program (March 5-7 and 12-14), and Ceramics and Sand Art (March 6-14). The market also features a family arcade, multi-level Advenutre Zone play area, and some of the best toy stores in town. For more details and event times, click here.
