Things to Do: Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Chinese Garden

Apr 10, 2008

A one-of-a-kind Vancouver attraction the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Chinese Garden was the first authentic Ming Dynasty-style garden outside of China. Built in 1986 by fifty-two artisans from Suzhou, the Garden City of the People's Republic of China, it incorporates design elements and traditional materials from several of Suzhou's centuries-old private gardens. No power tools, screws or nails were used in the construction of the gardens halls and walkways.

Forty-five-minute guided tours, included in the ticket price, are offered throughout the day. For those on a budget, admission is by donation for the last 1/2 hour of every day. Truly a peaceful, awe-inspiring hideaway, the Garden is open year-round, and has greenery that compliments each season. For more information, visit www.vancouverchinesegarden.com.
