Arbutus Ridge

Mar 05, 2008

One of the most affluent areas of Vancouver, Arbutus Ridge is on the West Side, running North-South from W 16th to W 41st, and East-West from East Blvd to Mackenzie Street. The neighbourhood boasts tree-lined streets, larger-than-average lot sizes and, of course, a great view of the North Shore mountains and English Bay. The area is mostly residential, but enjoys a close proximity to many shopping districts, as well as Jericho and Spanish Banks beaches.

The area of Arbutus Ridge has traditionally been popular with Greek-Canadians, and indeed Vancouver's Hellenic Community Centre is located at 29th and Arbutus

A number of homes in Arbutus Ridge date back to from Vancouver's early years. Of particular heritage significance are several period homes on 37th Avenue built in 1912, in the English Arts and Crafts Style, by prominent architect G.L. Thornton Sharp.
