Riley Park

Mar 06, 2008

Riley Park is a mainly residential neighbourhood in East Vancouver, which runs East-West from Fraser to Cambie Streets, and North-South from 41st Ave to 16th Ave. In addition to a charming neighbourhood feel, made possible by tree-lined streets and plenty of single-family dwellings, Riley Park also contains the beautiful Queen Elizabeth Park (which boasts a pitch 'n' putt course, a floral conservatory, tennis courts and lawn bowling), Nat Bailey Baseball Stadium (home of the Vancouver Canadians) and the Riley Park Community Centre, which has both a large public swimming pool and an ice rink.

The Cambie edge of this neighbourhood was hit particularly hard recently with the construction of the Canada Line, which required major disruption of traffic and business on Cambie street as construction crews tunneled under the street. Construction is now complete on this part of the line and both residents and businesses in the area are hoping for a return to normal traffic patterns

The Cambie Street side of Riley Park is great for health/organic food shopping with several large organic markets, and Riley Park's Main Street edge is known as “antiques row”, a popular destination for antiquarians on the weekends.
