What a game – What a season – What a goalie!

Well the end of the season is upon us and what a ride it’s been. The Canucks lost a heart-breaking battle in the 2nd period of OT of game 5, giving the Ducks a 4-1 series win and a chance in the Western Conference finals for the second year in a row.

Luongo kept the Canucks in the game and made 56 amazing saves, stopping almost everything the Ducks sent his way. With a big hit on Jannik Hansen by Rob Niedermayer, Luongo took his eyes off the puck for a fraction of a second, and brother Scott Niedermayer slapped the puck to the back of the net with a quick wrist shot from it seemed, out of nowhere.

I’m not going to recite a play-by-play of the game with penalties, shots and stats; it seems so pointless now that the Canucks are out of the running for the Stanley Cup. I would like to commend the team, including the coaches, staff and even back-up goalie, Dany Sabourin, who saved five shots in the first 3$1 of the first OT period. They played a remarkable season and deserve a huge pat on the back for their effort and hard work. Of course a spot in the Western Conference final would have been better, but we will take what we can get. The team had a good run and I look forward for what is in store for next season.
